Modern Greek-Mediterranean in a phoenix’s nest
Fenix is one of Manchester’s most ambitious restaurants, a relaxed yet elevated take on Greek-Mediterranean cuisine led by celebrated chefs Ippokratis Anagnostelis and Zisis Giannouras. The space is designed to represent the nest of a phoenix — the mythical firebird reborn from the flames — a legend reflected throughout the lavish decor of limewashed coves, terrazzo floors and pampas grass. By night it transitions from refined dining room to high-energy destination, with OPA events bringing live entertainment and music late into the evening.
What to order
The à la carte menu is divided into sections — Garden (elaborate salads), Meze (classics like moussaka, grilled octopus and caramelised aubergine), From The Open Fire (flamed fish and meats) and Pasta & Rice — or you can choose one of three tasting-style menus built around four chapters. Standouts include the Mykonian Salad with authentic Mykonian feta, the Langoustine Orzo with lobster bisque and feta, and the Wagyu dolmadki, a scorched vine leaf stuffed with herby rice and wagyu beef. The wine and cocktail lists are exceptional, with rarities like Metaxa AEN 3.
Who it’s for
This is a place for a special dinner, a celebration or a lively night out where the meal turns into an event. With its dramatic setting, refined cooking and late-night energy, it suits both food lovers and those after a glamorous evening.
